FULTON HILL GREEN STREET Sculpture

INSTALLATION 2024. The sculpture is integrated into the Greening Greater Fulton Project, a multi-year effort spearheaded by Innovate Fulton, Inc, a grassroots 501(c)(3).

The sculpture illustrates the water cycle, highlighting the importance of the stormwater management improvements that have been implemented along and below the street. The birds tie the watershed improvements to the idea of neighborhood unity: while bird life is symbolic of a healthy environment, conceptually bird murmuration lends itself to a message of unity and working together, as the community did to conceive and implement this project.

Design concepts and renderings of the green street were presented to the community at Fulton GreenFest on June 25, 2022. The artists presented three sculpture ideas at the festival, and community members were asked to vote to determine the winning concept.

The sculpture is steel with the exception being the two clouds at the top, which are aluminum and mounted on axes to spin independently with the wind.
